Up until the VY Holden
Commodore, the shape, styling and look for the III generation Commodore looked
pretty much the same. The outside was completely restyled and updated with more
sharper features in contrast to the rounder style of the VT and VX Commodore’s.
A key change to the overall style was the headlights, with a more harder
look. The VE Tail Lights on base versions retained the teardrop, however once
again more top models did not have this feature.
Projector lamps were also an extra feature of the more high end
versions of the VE Tail Lights for Commodore. At the time the VE Tail Lights for
Commodore was styled, high end Euro cars were gaining momentum in Australia, and
Holden used a lot of in-trend features in this model.
The tail lamps
design saw the middle garnish taken off from all models and the shape was
upgraded to a triangular look. Once again different models received slightly
different taillight styling. The VZ Commodore was the last of the third
generation Commodores and overall the model looked pretty much the same as the
VE Tail Lights Commodore but did receive a slightly new front end and the
teardrop was removed from all front-ends. Although some features of the
headlights were taken out, the high end models were still given the projector
headlights for increased visibility.
Not yet viewed in previous
models, the back end of the VZ was also given an upgrade, now featuring a
special tinted feature to the lower half.
There was a giant space
between the VZ and the VE with about 9 years of improvement. With close to One
Billion Dollars cashed in on the improvement of the VE, Holden used the time on
getting this said model looking just right. The VE was absolutely madein
Australia this instance, a new one for the Commodore. The fresh style of the VE
showed was amazing. A seriously lower, wider stance paired with even weight
dispersion for better grasp and flared guards, the VE really looked the part.
The
lead end was very much alike to the VZ but this time they were fuller and much
more angular. Once more newer designs received a black reflector and projector
headlamps. A number of the hugest adjustments for the VE was the change of
design for the tail lights. Luxury models were provided with Euro style tail
lamps while the flashier designs, including the SSV, were given fantastic, and
hugely popular red circle and black chrome additions. Once again these became a
familiar addition with owners of base design VE Commodore’s tail lights.
In a new step for Holden the HSV styles of the VE Commodore had a
entirely different back part sheet metal and taillight design. This was yet
again a path of HSV in certain moving to a more European design.
